Tying a Sea Horse

Realistic artistc fly tying a Sea Horse by Graham Owen
This was a rather challenging project


Partridge Carrie Stevens size 4 10 extra long hook, bent into shape
A size 4 10 extra long hook was bent into shape using pliers

The tying process begins with a base layer of thread
It was challenging just wrapping thread around the bend

real gold thread, micro-chenille, pre-cut and colored foam strips as well as Jungle Cock and Peacock feathers were tyed onto the hook to begin forming the body

It was time for a break,  my tying was getting a little sloppy looking

The head was shaped by building up layers of micro-chenille

The green feathers on the head are from a rare bird called a Beautiful Sunbird

The eyes are made by rolling six red goose feather fibers around two black goose feather fibers.
