Realistic Fly Tying - Scorpions

Two thin strips of white foam are segmented along a 10xl hook, to create the tail, and stinger

Fine tipped markers and custom tinted vanish is applied for coloration

 

it started looking cool when it was 1/2 done


Legs are fine piano wire with thin strips of white foam tyed along the length.

Small loops of 8/0 thread are tyed to the ends of the wire, coated with vanish, and cut to create claws

 

Artistic and realistic fly tying is fun and challenging, you should try it...

This fly was tyed during the week I bought my first SLR camera, and this photo and the one below are likely the last photos I took using my old sony Point & Shoot
